Day 39 of 49: Be humble continued
Wow those dot’s just keep connecting…
Theme for Day 39: Be humble.
Another whirlwind of a day, I tell you!
Yesterday I shared how I’ve recently been experiencing some intense moments of ‘enough is enough already’ with respect to my 49-day journey, specifically in relation to only eating after 6 pm.
Trying to release the mounting emotional pressure by ignoring these guests was only exasperating the situation. It has been amazing to witness the healing power of awareness and allowing for the uninhibited voicing and expression of what was alive in me, with no judgement. The obsessive nagging intensity of this dissonance has evaporated, now a memory. These guests simply wanted to express themselves and be received in a safe, sacred space.
Learning through doing, adapting to change.
A couple of days ago I posted a quote about the power of being able to adapt to change.
Then today I came across this one…
On the way to school, I got to live this!
My youngest has a new pair of black trainers which he is allowed to wear as his school shoes. They have a series of double elastic loops through which the laces are threaded and in the car this morning my son announced that one of the pairs had come loose from the shoe.
I said we’d need to make a stop at my mom’s place, which is around the corner from my eldest son’s school and there we’ll see what we could do to fix them. He passed some remark about doubting whether that would be possible and I quoted one of my favourite people…
It was a delicious learning curve, figuring out what we could do, establishing what tools we had available, gaining insights from each attempt along the way and adjusting.
All along asking, ‘What’s working? What have we learned?’
Thank you, Life!
An invoiceable job.
I had a meeting today, a feedback session for improving and optimising content for a site upgrade and two upcoming videos. Felt so amazing to be providing expertise that I’d be able to bill for!
I mentioned a conversation that followed theFebruary Mindfulness gathering invite, that culminated in booking an exploratory discussion around career aspirations.
This meeting took place today. It was a wickedly inspiring in terms of connecting with another also passionate about seeing the possibility of a collaborative world. There was a wealth of resource sharing and it felt wonderful to connect with a fellow conscious business tribe member.
It also felt great to be appreciated for my diverse skill set and adaptability instead of quizzically examined as some weird anomaly for not fitting into a defined ‘box’.
Scratching the surface.
I’ve done a little more digging in the area of South African conscious business initiatives. I was oh so excited to discover a page listing South African companies actively getting behind the business for good movement!
I came across B Lab’s Measure what Matters campaign and their quick impact assessment tool.
I watched a couple of clips on their site and resonated with these words:
‘Somebody has got to show that you don’t have to trade return for impact’ ~Deval Patrick, MD Bain Capital Double Impact
And these especially!
‘It’s our vision that one day all companies will compete not only to be best in the world but best for the world. And as a result of that, we will collectively enjoy a more shared and durable prosperity for all’ ~Jay Coen Gilbert, Co-Founder B Lab
I so share your mission Jay!
Am beyond excited to dig deeper!
Thank you, Day 39!
