Idan Shtivi

Thank you to the dedication of "🎗️Counting till they are back🎗️" for getting to know some of Idan's story.

All posts are created and shared with care and best intent. Please receive any errors with kindness and understanding🙏

Idan, 28 at the time of his murder, was the son of Eli and Dalit, brother to Eilin, Omri, and Hila, and the partner of Stav.

A graduate of law and a student of sustainability and governance, Idan loved nature, photography, and animals. He had a deep bond with dogs. Stav shared that Idan was a beloved soul—kind and giving, someone who always put others before himself.

On the morning of the attack, Idan arrived at the Nova Festival to photograph his friends who were playing music and leading workshops. But he never had the chance. As the assault began, he tried to help a young man and woman escape. While fleeing, they encountered terrorists and were shot. Idan managed to hide for a while longer, but was ultimately abducted. In October 2024, his family was informed that he had been murdered and that his body was being held in Gaza.

In the days following the festival, Idan and Stav were meant to move in together in Tel Aviv, along with their puppy Luka, whom they had adopted shortly beforehand.

Let us together hold the vision of Stav’s return — the sacred moment when he is finally laid to rest with honour, surrounded by the love of his family, and the embrace of the land he called home.

The more people — men, women, and young people — who change their profile pictures to the faces of the hostages and the count of days in captivity, the more their presence will not be erased, their cries will be heard, and the more strength we can send them — to endure one more minute, one more hour, one more day, as we breathe with them and together hold the vision strong of them reunited in the arms of their families NOW. Let us, together, disrupt the status quo and bring them home.

May we courageously envision a future that is liberated from a cycle of hatred, traumatic loss and deep heart ache. One that embodies the words, “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”~Buckminster Fuller
So may it be 🙏🕯️❤️‍🩹🕊️
