Ilan, 56 at the time of his death, was the partner of Shiri and father to Meital, Maayan, and Noga. Shiri and Noga were also abducted and returned in the first deal.
A devoted and loving family man, he gave everything to his wife and daughters. Ilan is remembered as a man of many talents, a beloved and loyal friend within the Be’eri community, with farming flowing through his veins.
Over the years, he held various roles in the kibbutz, and those who knew him speak of his unique sense of humour, his honesty, dedication, responsibility, and remarkable initiative.
On the morning of the attack, he was killed while going to retrieve the key to the armoury for the emergency response team, after the security coordinator was killed in the very first moments. His body was abducted and remains in Gaza.
His sister Osnat said about six months ago:
"Until Ilan returns and we can bring him to a proper burial, we as a family will not be able to begin to heal."
Let us together hold the vision of Ilan’s return — the sacred moment when he is finally laid to rest with honour, surrounded by the love of his family, friends and the embrace of the land he called home.
The more people — men, women, and young people — who change their profile pictures to the faces of the hostages and the count of days in captivity, the more their presence will not be erased, their cries will be heard, and the more strength we can send them — to endure one more minute, one more hour, one more day, as we breathe with them and together hold the vision strong of them reunited in the arms of their families NOW. Let us, together, disrupt the status quo and bring them home.

May we courageously envision a future that is liberated from a cycle of hatred, traumatic loss and deep heart ache. One that embodies the words, “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”~Buckminster Fuller
So may it be 🙏🕯️❤️🩹🕊️
