Sahar, who marked his last birthday in captivity, was 25 at the time of his death.
The son of Tami and Roni, and brother to Guy, Idan z”l, and Niv.
As a child, Sahar was described as curious and quiet, with a rich inner world, a powerful bond with his brothers, a love of adventure, and natural leadership qualities. He loved judo, cycling, and was a talented keyboard and trumpet player. He competed in chess, both in tournaments and online, and enjoyed Dungeons & Dragons and fantasy books.
He served in the navy on a missile ship, and after his release from the army, returned to work in his kibbutz—Be’eri. In preparation for the “big trip” he had so looked forward to, Sahar set out on the Israel National Trail, and then flew with excitement and enthusiasm to South America. He returned from his journey with long hair, which he had planned to donate (for a second time).
In October 2023, he was due to begin his studies in electrical engineering at Ben-Gurion University.
On the morning of the attack, Sahar and his brother Idan tried to escape through the window of their home. When Sahar went back inside to retrieve Idan’s inhaler, Idan was murdered near their home, and Sahar was kidnapped.
About two months later, Sahar was killed during an attempted rescue. His family awaits the opportunity to bring him to a proper burial in Israel and to say their final goodbye.
Let us together hold the vision of Sahar’s return — the sacred moment when he is finally laid to rest with honour, surrounded by the love of his family, friends and the embrace of the land he called home.
The more people — men, women, and young people — who change their profile pictures to the faces of the hostages and the count of days in captivity, the more their presence will not be erased, their cries will be heard, and the more strength we can send them — to endure one more minute, one more hour, one more day, as we breathe with them and together hold the vision strong of them reunited in the arms of their families NOW.
